Bedrocan Went Bankrupt. Dutch Medical Cannabis Hasn’t Run Out.

The collapse of supplier Bedrocan raised questions for Dutch patients. The national cannabis office says existing stocks should last until at least mid-2027.

Bedrocan has gone bankrupt. If you get medicinal cannabis from a Dutch pharmacy, that's not something you want to hear. But it doesn't mean your medicine has suddenly disappeared. The Dutch Office of Medicinal Cannabis says it has enough stock of all five varieties to last until at least the middle of 2027.

Officials were actually looking for another supplier before Bedrocan went bankrupt. The company's contract with the government ended in 2025. Now there's a European tender to find replacement cannabis. They're looking for products with THC and CBD levels close to what patients already use. That sounds sensible. But when you've finally found a medicine that works for you, changing it isn't necessarily a small thing.

The cannabis office is talking with healthcare organisations about the change. There's still time to work things out because the current stock hasn't run out. If you're worried about your medicine, have a chat with your pharmacist or doctor. For now, they can still get their usual cannabis. What happens when those supplies are gone is the part that needs sorting out.
