Amsterdam Dance Event can be intense. Packed clubs, endless queues and DJs everywhere you turn. But one Amsterdam coffeeshop offered a different way to experience the music. From October 21 to 25, De Kade on Stadionkade hosted its own series of DJ sessions. No enormous festival venue. Just a smaller setting where music and local coffeeshop culture could meet.
The programme, called (K)ADE DJ Sessions, featured live DJ sets every day from 4 PM until 10 PM. Entry was free, with an 18-plus age requirement. According to the organisers, each day had its own musical direction. The aim was to create a relaxed meeting point during one of Amsterdam's busiest weeks on the electronic music calendar. Sometimes you don't need a massive stage to enjoy a proper set.
For visitors curious about Dutch cannabis culture, there's something interesting here. Coffeeshops aren't all identical, and some are experimenting with creative events and community activities alongside their regular business. De Kade's ADE programme connected that world with Amsterdam's music scene. A reminder that the city's famous coffeeshops can have cultural stories worth telling, long after the DJ packs away the decks.
